This event is for any Illinois resident.

The household hazardous waste collection event will be held at the Adams County Highway Department at 101 N 54th ST. ENTER THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT FROM 54TH STREET (This is different from previous years).

Examples of chemicals you CAN Bring: Paint thinners, solvents, used motor oil, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, old gasoline, lawn chemicals, cleaning products, hobby chemicals, aerosol paints, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, antifreeze, old/outdated medicines, rechargeable batteries, mercury & devices containing mercury, and OIL-based paints.

Examples of chemicals NOT To Bring: Institutional wastes, Business wastes, commercial wastes, agriculture chemicals, farm machinery oil, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fireworks or other explosives, propane tanks, medical wastes (no sharps, needles, or potentially infectious wastes). NO LATEX PAINT

Latex paint is not hazardous if it is dried out. Dry out latex paint and discard it with your household waste. Mix cat litter with latex paint to dry it out more quickly.
